Newbury Training

With little time, I had to prepare for a training session for MapAction; this time the charity was at an army barracks at Hermitage. It was a long weekend training and it didn't start well with serious traffic delays coming off the M4. Apparently it was a giant car boot sale that covered a massive field. The dry conditions meant that the dust was being kicked up into the air and rendering the whole area hazy.

Arriving at the camp, we got our passes from the guards and met up at the gym. It was great to see the other chaps and I was also looking forward to meeting up with the LAC section: two this time round.

My mind was a bit distracted due to the thesis deadline but I had to push this back into a section of my mind; ready to be picked up monday.

The weekend promised some glorious weather and after the morning roundtables we had lunch then split up into our groups. I was to run the process workflow - that was quite a challenge but reports indicated that all went very well.

Dinner was dry, vacuum packed rations and the evening had us all split into four teams for a pub quiz: a very good idea and ice breaker for the LAC and a nice way to ease ourselves out of the hard afternoon's work.

I turned in early and woke up in a moisture-soaked tent - morning abulutions and then into the exercise - Me and S had some serious disagreements but what did you expect with two strong personalities?
