Well, watching some of the US coverage of the war makes me feel sad and a little bit worried. It isn't news with facts but heavily in favour of the US - I get the feeling that to do anything else would run the risk of being labelled 'unpatriot' and that is a sad thing for American democracy. The complex situation appears to have been boiled down to a sentence, a nice easy sound bite to be repeated to an easily bored populace. Makes me glad to have the UK's Guardian available. Still, many Americans are not easily led by this uneven news reporting and therein lies some hope. Many realise that there has been hundreds of Iraqi deaths.
Still raining here in New York and I am hanging out with gf and enjoying the quiet period. Nice to have some downtime and even reading is more enjoyable knowing that I have no work for the next few days. I do have an exam when I return to the UK so I have to revise a little bit during my break here.
Looking at my Rough guide to New York I can see that there are two recommended music stores downtown that stocks a massive selection of electronica, ambient, hip-hop and fusion so I will have to check this out I think tomorrow in addition to a trip to Ellis Island if I can. Hope the weather is better tomorrow.
