Life is lousy at the moment. This blog has been quiet because I have had a lot on my mind and still too much and too painful for me to write down. A couple of bomb-shells and realisation that I was blind and didn't see some things. Very bitter now and this is unlike me. Luckily some friends have been superb and have been giving their unflaggin support over the last week or so and I feel blessed. Must thank them all properly and soon.
Luckily, I had an event in place that allowed me to distract myself, at least for a day. A few months ago I gave myself the target of completing a cross country (15km) and this I did on sunday. A week prior to the run I badly damaged both my ankle and wrist in a game of football and the ankle felt doubtful until a day before the run. Luckily, I didn't have to run on my hands too! Still, bad placement in the beginning (in the middle of the pack) and single-file running through a forest meant I dropped behind my target time. The final 1.5KM was going to be my sprint finish but instead, I stepped off the concrete pavement and (re-)twisted my already strapped and damaged ankle. The last 1.5KM was me running on an increasingly painful ankle but I gritted my teeth as stopping there would mean my ankle would seize up. So I made it, got the t-shirt and a time and I collapsed.
Ankle very sore this morning and I have been asked to play in goal once more for my work team...how can I refuse? Except my wrist & forearm has turned blue and black from what I think are torn and/or stretched ligaments/tendons. Very sore right now so I better strap them up for the game soon!
