Fuck me. Not a good journey - took me over ten hours to go 6 miles and the last 200 metres was the WORST. Yup, the UK has been lashed with snow and rain and everything stops; Brits' winter driving skills need some improvement methinks. Lost control of my car twice and then I made the mistake of attempting to go up my, oh-so-steep hill just before my house. Half-way up, no traction and I started to slip backwards. I started to gain speed as gravity started to act. Not good. Managed to arrest the slip before too much momentum was built up and I ended up in someone's garden or front room or smacked into a car. Another car was following but he managed to skid out of the way but ended up at an awkward angle on the road. A second car was following behind this one and couldn't get up the hill either.
Well, I was in a pickle as I jammed the handbrake and now stuck on a hill. I saw lights up hill and a 4x4 came tearing round the top. Way too effing fast. Now, I was in the middle of the road with two more cars in a similiar position behind me. This chap didn't care and did a slalom round all three cars. He was gaining speed and once he was past us all I heard was the sound of his ineffectual braking.....
Weellllll, my position in the middle of the road was not good. So, I pop the car into first, revved it ever so gently and crawled up the first slope. Praying to God, Yahweh, Allah and whoever was listening I managed to get round the first slope. Enough was enough and sod it, I managed to stick the car somewhere off the side of the road (but its ass still sticking out somewhat) and trudged the last 200metres back to the flat. The car park and the streets around it were quite empty of vehicles. Looks like no one else could get back either. It will be a mess tomorrow I am sure. Going to bed.
