Am quite sore from a long weekend hiking - went to Cheddar Gorge with Ian and Tony and had a great time. Lovely place - the journey there was uneventful but the weather during the three days could have been better.

First day had us three wander around the lip of the gorge with the late afternoon spent eating ice-cream. The evening meal was simple but filling: pasta by the plateful and three different types of beer. The saturday evening an intense game of scrabble to end things.

Second day gave us a 12 Mile hike through the gorge and round. The attractions around the gorge doesn't start until 10:00 but we were there by 8:00 and it was so quiet. There were no cars and no tourists. It is interesting how once one is a tourist somewhere, they want to be the only tourists there - to keep the attractions to themselves.

It was also Ian's birthday so the evening had us go to a pub and then a Thai restaurant (yes, Thai) and we had a good time.

The evening was spoilt by our other two room mates who tried to out-do each other in the snoring stakes. Needless to say I didn't get much sleep that night.
