Looks like Colonel Gadaffi has come in from the cold. Always wondered if Libya has any Generals as a Colonel isn't that high up. In some way Tony Blair is being pragmatic about the Libyans and to be honest, I was doubtful if the Libyans were entirely behind the Lockerbie bombing - especially the conviction of that ONE guy. PM Blair probably reckons that the feelings of a handful of families in Scotland and America isn't as important as securing as many Arab allies against the global war on terror. I do hope that the Libyans are genuine about I suppose a collapsing economy and an ageing leader wanting some time in the sun will mean little monkey business.

I feel a bit of fear that Spain has decided to withdraw troops from Spain - the terrorists claim a victory but the Socialists already stated that if they came into power they would pull the troops out. While I disagreed with the war in Iraq, we're in it and in it up to our necks. The job needs to be done and done properly and pulling out like this will in my view, invite more attacks. I do feel that there will be some sort of attack on London but after three decades or more of IRA attacks I feel that the Brits are more ready than most Governments. Still, I fear that whatever attack would be a deadly as well as spectacular one. An attack here on English soil though would not force the Brits to pressure the government for a withdrawal - quite the opposite I think. With dead people, I doubt that the anti-war lobby would be too vocal and those on the fence would demand justice and revenge. No, I think an attack would harden Brits and make her Muslim community ever more fearful of the white community. This would be a tragedy and play into the hands of both sides. Al-Qaeda and her believers would love to have everyone at each other's throats. What can we do? What can the West do?

Supporting a proper peace process in Israel/Palestine would be a good first step. Supporting global fair trade another step. Simple things? Dunno.
