Omigod - it has been a hot few days. Mum kindly went out and brought me a cool looking electric fan (floor standing and not the radial type - must get picture) and that has been a god send. Keeps the air moving and all. Nightmare result for England last night and I am still shocked. Good goals by France, they didn't cheat or anything to get ahead but England was punished for two mistakes. Heskey was clumsy on the tackle and the ever realiable Gerrard who I think is England's best player produced a horrible back pass. James was lucky not to get sent off. Zidane was masterful and has always been one of my favourite players. Am playing football tomorrow and it's the last game of the season and I hope to emulate Zizou!!

Sweden played brilliantly against Bulgaria though the 5-0 score didn't give an indication of how well the Bulgarians played. Larsson produced a magnificient goal. His diving header must be the best goal this far and could be the best.

Work is going well and I am chuffed that my work has been recognised by a number of colleagues. I am not in work for personal praise but a pat on the back now and then does make all the difference.

Labour got a bloody this weekend and the UKIP grabbed many seats. They were successful because they had a simple message: 'We want out of Europe' and that's it. I honestly don't know where the Tories or Labour are on this. Also, the Labour party is being punished for the Iraq war - any thoughts by Tony Blair that the Iraq war would be forgotten (a bit like the war in Afghanistan....which is still going on by the way) has been a sad mistake by an increasinly out-of-touch leader. While I dislike his policies and still believe he is the best PM this country has to offer. Best doesn't mean I should like him or agree with him. However, I despair at his continued, nay dogged insistence to hang around with Dubya. Tony should know better and Bush has proven time and time again that he can and will ignore Tony whenever he likes (Israel-Palestine, Kyoto conference, UN etc) and it will bring our PM down. There is some hope though but I doubt Dubya or his cronies will listen. Christ, I know a lot of Americans who despair at how their beloeved country is being dragged further and further down by Bush. Maybe Bush believes that America's time as the sole super power is ending and that the next super-power is possibly China and/or Europe? Mebbe.
